Calendar Girls - July

Where the butterflies roam free.....it's where the Calendar Girls are this month! Our hostess is, Linda.   She challenged us to use a butterfly in our card creation, as she likes them and they hold special meaning to her.

I had to take to my image files and hope that I had an image that would suffice.   I found one!  I had a butterfly image from Taylored Expressions, so that is the one that I used.

I colored and Stickled the butterfly, then fussy cut him.  I decided it was a him!  I paired it with a DP that I had on hand and added a cute glittery butterfly I received in a card kit.

I closed my eyes {not really} and did a 'Jeanette stamp directly on the DP' again and I am two for two!  I should probably stop that now, I am going to have to mess up soon!   LOL

I hope you are all having a good week!

Dueling Darlings - July

Did you all survive the fireworks this month?!  We have our own little snap, crackle and pop this month with the Dueling Darlings from SCS.

Kelly, was our hostess this month.   We received a kit that had a bunch of goodness from Taylored Expressions.  Our theme, Birds of a Feather, Flock Together.

Our group is four years in the making, if you can believe that!  With that said, that was a part of our challenge - to use four of one thing from our card kit. I chose to use the pearls in the lower right corner.

We were challenged to build our image.  We had a scrolling tree trunk and a few different tree tops to work with.  I chose a tree top that I thought would work to show the scroll of the tree.

There were sentiments and little birds, eggs and a nest to choose from. I changed the images from white card stock to an ivory color with ink, a stamp and pencils, to match the paper I chose from the kit.

I had to use the rust colored paper as it reminded me of my mom.  I know, weird right?  My parents had a house built in 1979.  It had rust carpet, just like the DP color! It was the house of what's happenin' now in the day!   LOL  It reminded me of this song, the best selling record ever for Atlantic Records.

Burlap - we had to use burlap.  We had a great sheet to use, now how to cut that stuff straight!  Ugh!  That was more the challenge than using the item for pity sake.  I still did not master it.  Any tips would be appreciated!

Please be sure to check out all of the Dueling Darlings creations.  I cannot wait to see what the other Diva's did with their trees.  All blog links are on the right sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy 4th of July!

We are so lucky to live in America!  I am thankful for all that our service men and women do for us.

Here is a quick card that I made with some papers that I received in a card kit last year.  I had enough materials to make four cards to send out.  The colors are much more muted and on the burgundy side outside of the photo.

I am working on using my scrap pieces to embellish the cards I am using the papers on.   I decorated the interior, but did not photograph it.  Perfect, right?!  LOL  I did use little circle punches under the eyelets, so does that count?!

I hope you all have a great celebration this weekend!
