Calendar Girls - January

Anniversary time!!!!!  The Calendar Girls from SCS are starting another fun filled year.  Didn't I just say that...oh, did I say that aloud?!

Our hostess and group leader is, Jeanette.  Our challenge this month was to choose a national holiday that associated around our birth date, and use that theme to create a card. Thankfully, we were provided with a website to aid our choice.  I decided to go specifically to my birthday, September 17th.

There were some pretty funny ones to choose from!  I seriously considered National Rehabilitation Day for my hoarding paper tendencies, but settled on a holiday that reminded me of a few things and some card inspiration from, Jeanette.

I chose not just national, but International Country Music Day.  Who knew?!  Jeanette, is currently doing the 100 cards in 100 days challenge.   I admire those who can complete that challenge. She has put up some pretty cute Riley cards, so that made me go diggin' through my image files and I found the perfect countrified Riley.  Then recently someone had a card that had apples as the theme {sorry I cannot remember who}, so I went through my scraps and found some apple and wood DP to create this card.

Of course I had to get my Pandora One on while I made this. Country of course!!!  It makes me giggle that the Pandora country station is called Country Cra*!  Here is a song that is a unique collaboration that worked.  I have it on my 'Slo Mo' playlist on my iPod.

Please be sure and visit all of the Calendar Girls to see their creations.  I cannot wait to see what holidays they came across.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.   Have a great day!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge

There is a new challenge posted today at Twisted Tuesday Challenges.  You should come along and join - we'll have fun together!

The challenge is to use washi or fabric tape on your creation.  The twist is to use an item on your creation that starts with either T - A - P or E.

I chose to use fabric tape.  It is the brown, patterned and scalloped piece in the upper right corner.   For my twist, I used the letter 'P' and used a paper clip.

Thanks, for stopping by to take a peek.  Have a great day!

Dueling Darlings - January

Hello Everyone!    I cannot believe it is already time to duel with the Dueling Darlings from SCS.  Since being down with the ugly cold virus, it seems the first half of this month was a blur!

My Glittah Sistah Carol, sent out the most adorable kit to us for this duel.  It was themed 'angels'.   As soon as I took a peek at the image, it instantly reminded me of our cute neighbor, Grace.  She had a haircut like that when she was smaller.

As with all children, they grow up so fast.  She went from cute haircut girl, to TEN years old today.  Whhhhaaaatt?!  We went from watching Nemo, to iMessaging!

She was hard to come by for her parents, from giving IVF trigger shots {That was a nightmare! You probably should not have asked me. I was a poor choice!} and such, she has always been wanted.  She has been a little angel, so I created this card to give her on her birthday.

Grace, was over last night showing us her talent show routine that was to audition today.  She was singing a song from Pitch Perfect.  The pitch was not perfect and that made it perfect!  I love that she still calls DH Pooh Bear.  If she was to say his real name, it would be weird!  Can we just stop her at ten years old?

Please be sure and see what our dueling angels created this month.....their blog links are on the right sidebar.

Lovestruck

It was time for our little card group to get together.  Yay!!!   The girls came over yesterday and we had a whole bunch of fun.  We ate a ton, had some wine, laughed to tears, oh and we made some Valentine's Day cards!

I used a past sketch and modified it a bit.  I had purchased all of the materials after the holiday last year.  We made 75 cards for under $9.00 - including all paper and the stamp!  That's $.12 per card.

This card was hard to photograph with Cupid being so shiny!  The only part you do not see, is that there was a bag of the heart confetti to sprinkle in each card - that is where the heart embelli next to the sentiment came from.

Hope you have a fun Valentines project planned too!

Crafters of Faith Farewell

I have to apologize for the delay in my Crafters of Faith post for December.  We have unfortunately have become categorized as 'under the weather' in our household.  Yeah, that's an understatement!  LOL  Not much energy to create and craft.

I am sad to say farewell to the Crafters of Faith group from SCS.  The group has disbanded and December is the final post.   I have to thank Kelly, our leader, for the opportunity to have joined the group.  I have learned a lot from these ladies and appreciate their support.

While I do not have a creation to share, being tardy on my posting has enabled me to view the rest of the group's posts.  What a pool of talent they have and share.   Surely, to be missed!

Since the new year is here and having the opportunity to reflect on 2013, it was a tough year for our family and friends.  Many were ill with serious conditions.  While we could look at the negative, I feel we are blessed to have them all still with us, having only lost one, and moving forward in whatever capacity we are supposed to be in at this point.

I hope 2014 is a good year for us all.  Take care!
